Search for Capybara Cinnamon Paused to Avoid Stress

Cinnamon the capybara has been evading capture for a week after escaping from Hoo Zoo in Telford, England, and is currently living comfortably in nearby woodland.

Cinnamon escaped from Hoo Zoo on September 13, 2024, and has been living in dense woodland near the zoo.
Zoo officials have spotted her multiple times using thermal drones but have paused active recapture efforts to avoid stressing her.
Cinnamon is reportedly comfortable, has ample access to food, and is not at risk from predators in her current location.
Efforts to lure Cinnamon back, including using live traps and playing capybara sounds, have so far been unsuccessful.
The zoo plans to resume capture attempts on Friday night, hoping to retrieve her without causing her to flee further.
