Overview
- On August 5 at approximately 6:30 a.m., a Nissan SUV towing a single-axle utility trailer veered off northbound I-5 near Sperry Avenue and plunged through two barbed-wire fences into the California Aqueduct.
- The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team retrieved the submerged vehicle and found the adult male driver, whose identity remains unreleased, dead inside.
- The California Highway Patrol now believes a 15-year-old boy was also in the SUV and is currently missing in the water.
