Search Expands for Missing 9-Year-Old on Sakhalin After Murder Case Opened

The case was opened under a provision covering murder of a minor to concentrate resources for a priority search.

The child left home in Penzenskoye, Tomarinsky District, on November 24 and has not been located.
Investigators say the boy was last seen that day on Cheremushki Street in the village.
Four rescuers with a canine team began searching on the evening of November 24.
On November 25, nine additional rescuers and three units of equipment with diving gear and a boat were deployed.
The Sakhalin Investigative Committee opened a case under p. “v”, part 2, article 105 to intensify efforts after the Uglegorsky interdistrict office received the report, and officials have not reported finding the child.
