• Officers were dispatched just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to a 911 call near the Wood Dale Public Library after witnesses saw a man go underwater and not resurface in the reservoir.
• The Wood Dale Fire Department led the initial search and summoned DuPage County Sheriff’s Office dive teams when the swimmer could not be located.
• The missing man’s family members have gathered at the scene as authorities coordinate a recovery operation.
• Officials said the reservoir serves only as a stormwater retention basin for Salt Creek and currently has low water levels with no currents.
• Crews will halt the search at 10 p.m. and resume dive operations at first light Wednesday if the man remains unaccounted for.
