Overview

  • A federal jury convicted Kingston in March of conspiracy and multiple wire fraud charges over a scheme that used social media to arrange luxury purchases backed by fake transfer receipts.
  • U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz set a restitution hearing within 90 days to determine compensation for victims defrauded of at least $1 million.
  • After a judge denied his bid to delay surrender on health grounds, Kingston began his 3½-year sentence immediately and will face three years of supervised release afterward.
  • His mother and co-defendant, Janice Eleanor Turner, is already serving a five-year federal sentence following her conviction in the same scheme.
  • Investigators say the pair used falsified banking documents to acquire luxury goods including an armored Escalade, premium watches and a 19-foot LED television.
