Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Seeks 14-Month Term Ahead of Oct. 3 Sentencing

His lawyers say roughly 13 months already served would make him eligible for release soon after the hearing.

Overview

  • A nearly 400-page defense filing submitted Sept. 23 asks the court to impose no more than 14 months and includes letters from family and associates.
  • Combs was convicted in July on two Mann Act–related prostitution counts and acquitted of more serious sex-trafficking and RICO allegations.
  • The defense describes his detention at Brooklyn’s MDC as inhumane, alleging lack of clean water, overcrowding, poor sanitation, no fresh air or sunlight, inadequate medical care, and repeated suicide-watch placements.
  • Prosecutors are expected to seek a substantially longer sentence, with reports indicating they had weighed four to five years and may now argue for more, though each count carries up to 10 years by statute.
  • Judges have repeatedly denied bail and home confinement since his September 2024 arrest, and any sentence will credit the approximately 13 months he has already served.
