Seahawks Select Elite Cornerback Devon Witherspoon With Fifth Overall Pick

With the No. 5 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks selected cornerback Devon Witherspoon.
Witherspoon was a 2022 Consensus All-American and the first ever defensive back to be named a Consensus All-American in Illinois history.
In his four years at Illinois, Witherspoon had five interceptions, 116 solo tackles, and 43 assisted tackles.
Though Witherspoon has concerns about his speed and size, he is known for sticking closely to receivers and eagerly engaging in contact.
Witherspoon is expected to compete for a starting role at cornerback on the Seahawks.
