S&DR200 Festival Confirms Three-Day Run for Locomotion No.1 Replica

Free tickets are required for Shildon and Hopetown viewings with unreserved vantage points available along the route.

Overview

  • The restored Locomotion No.1 replica will recreate the inaugural 1825 journey on September 26–28 over sections of the original Stockton & Darlington line.
  • Access to designated viewing areas at Locomotion Museum in Shildon on September 26 and Hopetown Darlington on September 27 is free but ticketed.
  • Unreserved public vantage points in Stockton, such as Rochester Road, Roseworth and Stillington, will allow spectators to watch the engine without tickets.
  • S&DR200 has unveiled a week-long series of cultural events across County Durham and Tees Valley, including exhibitions, performances and art installations.
  • The final leg from Darlington to Stockton remains subject to technical and timetable approvals by Network Rail.
