SDCC Málaga Will Return Oct. 1–4 With a Larger, Citywide Program

Officials say the expanded festival is designed to grow off‑season tourism by rooting San Diego Comic‑Con in Málaga’s cultural and tech scene.

Overview

  • Organizers confirmed the convention will take place Oct. 1–4, 2026 at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga with events extending into the city.
  • The second edition will stage about 300 hours of content across 60,000 square meters and organizers say guest and talent presence has quadrupled from 2025 levels.
  • The announced roster spans film, TV, comics, anime and games and includes Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Kevin Smith, Karl Urban and Paul Bettany among others.
  • Regional vice president Manuel Gavira of Vox presented the program and cited the inaugural edition’s impact, saying it drew roughly 100,000 visitors and pushed hotel occupancy to 94 percent.
  • Organizers unveiled a new John Romita Jr. poster and an attendee app to plan and reserve panels and they say sponsors such as BBVA and Telefónica will help embed the event for long‑term local benefit.
