Overview

• The £293.50 Carer’s Allowance Supplement is a biannual bonus for Scottish carers who were receiving Carer Support Payment or Carer’s Allowance on 14 April 2025.
• Social Security Scotland will automatically deposit the summer payment into carers’ usual bank accounts after sending notification letters, with no application required.
• Introduced in 2018 as the first benefit under Scotland’s devolved social security system, the supplement recognises the contribution of unpaid carers.
• Around 90,000 unpaid carers across Scotland are set to receive the summer instalment.
• The next Carer’s Allowance Supplement is scheduled for December 2025.
