Scottish Premiership Unveils 2025/26 Fixtures With New Postponement Rule

A SPFL policy change will allow clubs to defer league matches around European play-offs as Sky Sports plans to broadcast up to 60 live games.

Overview

  • The season opens on August 2 with Kilmarnock hosting promoted Livingston and continues on August 3 with Celtic’s title defence against St Mirren.
  • The first Old Firm derby takes place at Ibrox on August 31, followed by return meetings on January 3 at Celtic Park and February 28 in Glasgow.
  • Under the new SPFL rule any club involved in a European play-off can request a league match postponement between its two legs.
  • Sky Sports will televise up to 60 Premiership matches live, including four games on the opening weekend and all major derbies.
  • There will be no Boxing Day fixtures, with the regular campaign ending on May 16–17 ahead of the play-off final later in May.
