Overview
- The collision occurred at about 2.50am on the eastbound A64 between the A1036 and A19 near York Racecourse.
- A white Ford Transit Connect struck a stationary Volvo HGV in a layby and the 43-year-old van driver died at the scene.
- Police identified the victim as Scott Proudlock from the Malton area, and the HGV driver was uninjured and is assisting inquiries.
- After investigation and recovery work, the westbound carriageway reopened at 7.15am and the eastbound at 11.15am, with two ambulances sent following a 3.11am call.
