Scott Hoying Explains ‘DWTS’ Exit, Dismisses Fix Rumors

Hoying attributes the result to a mid-routine blackout, not scheduling for Pentatonix’s tour.

Overview

  • Hoying and pro partner Rylee Arnold were eliminated on Wicked Night on October 21 after scoring 28/40 from the judges, with results based on combined two-week scores and votes.
  • On the DWTS Official Podcast, Hoying said he “blacked out,” missed a move, and couldn’t recover during the contemporary to The Wizard and I.
  • Addressing online speculation, Hoying told Extra he had planned to do DWTS and Pentatonix simultaneously and that the exit was not arranged around the tour.
  • Pentatonix’s Christmas in the City Tour begins November 8 in West Valley City, Utah, and Hoying said the silver lining is being able to focus fully on the shows.
  • Arnold posted a heartfelt tribute and later said in a video she will continue in the show’s opening numbers this season, while both partners expressed gratitude for their partnership and experience.
