Overview

• The SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure met in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, and formally condemned the April 22 attack in Pahalgam.
• The council endorsed the Tianjin Declaration, which denounced the assault and urged action against cross-border terrorist movement.
• India’s delegation, led by Deputy National Security Adviser T. V. Ravichandran, pressed for holding the attack’s sponsors, organisers and financiers to account.
• Ravichandran urged member states to shun double standards and to fight terrorism in all forms and manifestations.
• The September 1 summit in Tianjin, attended by leaders including Narendra Modi, Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Shehbaz Sharif, had already set the counterterrorism framework later affirmed by RATS.
