Schwarz Group Breaks Ground on €11 Billion AI Data-Center Campus in Brandenburg

The company says the build will secure digital sovereignty by keeping critical data under German law.

Overview

  • A ceremonial start in Lübbenau launched construction of a 13-hectare campus with six independently operable modules built for high reliability.
  • The project is planned with roughly 200 megawatts of initial power capacity, with first services targeted for the second half of 2027 and the first phase completing by year-end.
  • Schwarz Digits put the investment at €11 billion, calling it the largest single outlay in the company’s history.
  • The facility is engineered for up to about 100,000 GPUs to train and run large AI models, with storage and compute also to be offered to external customers.
  • Waste heat is slated to feed the local district heating network, with operators saying it could supply around 75,000 households and run on renewable power in regular operation.
