School Bus Crash in Uttar Pradesh Leaves Student Dead, Many Injured
A 17-year-old student was killed and over a dozen others, including teachers, were injured after a bus collided with a stationary truck during an educational trip.
- The accident occurred on National Highway-2 near the Chiwali River Bridge in Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, involving a school bus carrying students from Government Girls’ Inter College, Bindki.
- One student, identified as Nasra Fatima, a 17-year-old Class 11 student, succumbed to her injuries at LLR Hospital in Kanpur, where several critically injured were also treated.
- The bus, part of a convoy of three, was en route to Kanpur for an educational visit when it collided with a stationary truck, reportedly while attempting to overtake.
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences, announced ₹2 lakh financial aid for the deceased's family, and directed free treatment for the injured.
- Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with the truck driver unidentified and the bus driver reportedly fleeing the scene.
