• The recall targets the 500-gram Zwiebelmettwurst, batch 133, produced on 11.08.2025 with a best-before date of 27.08.2025, identifiable on the closure clip.
• The product was distributed nationwide through retailers including Edeka in states such as Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
• Consumers are urged not to consume the affected item and to return it to the point of purchase for a refund.
• EHEC/VTEC infections can cause severe gastrointestinal illness and, in rare cases, hemolytic-uremic syndrome leading to kidney failure, with elevated risk for children, older adults and immunocompromised people.
• Symptoms often begin three to four days after exposure, and anyone who ate the product and develops illness should seek medical care and mention a possible EHEC infection.
