Overview

  • The spa will occupy the former Mactaggart family estate off Whitemud Road overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley in the Riverbend neighbourhood.
  • Travel Alberta’s Investor Concierge program and the province’s Investment and Growth Fund are funding the project alongside City of Edmonton, Edmonton Global and Explore Edmonton.
  • Officials project about $121 million in economic impact and roughly 330 temporary and 52 permanent jobs in the first decade.
  • Preliminary plans call for Nordic saunas, steam baths, whirlpools, cold plunges, a bistro, retail space and potential staff quarters.
  • City and project partners are addressing concerns from First Nations representatives and conservation advocates over consultation and river valley preservation.
