Overview
- Fraud leverages websites impersonating Light’s Agência Virtual that accept email, CPF and password to generate convincing payment slips.
- Counterfeit documents often display the customer’s real name, CPF, energy connection code and, in many cases, the correct address.
- Light says it is actively monitoring and reporting malicious pages to authorities and notes that legitimate slips list “Light Serviços de Eletricidade S. A.” as the beneficiary.
- One customer, Antônio Carlos, questioned a doubled November bill and had the charge confirmed by Light as a fake.
- Customers should use agenciavirtual.light.com.br or the Light Clientes app, check for the security padlock, contact their bank if defrauded and file a police report.
