• The State Bank of Pakistan issued the clarification on September 28 following questions circulating on social media.
• All digital fund transfers are processed in real time, and recipients see the money in their accounts almost instantly.
• For branchless wallets, cash withdrawals, online purchases and mobile top-ups are allowed only after a two-hour window.
• The requirement was introduced in April 2023 as part of enhanced customer due diligence and has operated smoothly for about two and a half years.
• The SBP framed the measure as a proven safeguard against fraud and confirmed there is no change to the policy.
