SBI Discloses Electoral Bond Details to Election Commission

The move comes after the Supreme Court's direction to ensure transparency in political donations.

After being directed by the Supreme Court, the State Bank of India (SBI) has submitted all details of electoral bonds to the Election Commission, including serial numbers.
The unique alphanumeric numbers on the bonds will enable the matching of donors with the political parties that received the funds.
SBI has withheld only complete account numbers and KYC details from disclosure, citing security reasons.
The Supreme Court had previously declared the electoral bond scheme unconstitutional and ordered the disclosure of donor and recipient details.
Details provided by SBI are expected to be made public on the Election Commission's website soon.
