• Saxony recorded 24,697 live births in 2024, a 5.7% drop from the previous year.

• Leipzig and Dresden accounted for more than one-third of Saxony’s births, with 4,811 and 4,097 deliveries respectively.
• Women in Leipzig and Dresden averaged just 1.0 and 1.1 children per woman, compared with rates ranging from 1.28 in Landkreis Leipzig to 1.5 in Landkreis Bautzen in rural districts.
