Overview

• State archaeologists presented the 3,000-year-old trove from Klein Neundorf, totaling about 16 kilograms of metalwork.
• Officials confirmed 310 objects, including 136 sickles and 50 axes, recovered roughly 50 centimeters below the surface.
• The assemblage is dated to around 800 BCE and is assessed as a likely votive deposit placed in the ground for ritual purposes.
• The site was located after licensed detectorist Henry Herrmann expanded the search in 2023, and the excavation was kept confidential to deter looting.
