• Since this week, affected small businesses and freelancers can apply through the SAB online portal for exemptions or flexible repayment arrangements.
• More than 8,000 recipients have signaled they plan to seek a waiver of repayment, according to the Sächsische Aufbaubank.
• Applicants have filed 1,500 requests to extend payment deadlines, with 750 approvals already granted.
• SAB says €178 million has been repaid so far, the current process covers about 66,000 recipients with 64% response, some 25,000 cases involve repayments, and roughly €97 million remains outstanding.
• Complete waivers are limited to cases meeting thresholds of under €35,000 net income for 2023 and less than €40,000 in assets, while payment periods can be extended by up to 36 months with interest relief.
