Saudi Arabia Opens Shura Links, First 18-Hole Island Golf Course at The Red Sea

The launch anchors Shura Island’s next phase of luxury and sports tourism.

Overview

  • Red Sea Global formally inaugurated the par-72, 7,400-yard links-style course on Shura Island, designed by Brian Curley and operated by Golf Saudi.
  • Officials frame the opening as advancing Vision 2030’s economic diversification while saying the course was built to minimize environmental impact under regenerative tourism standards.
  • Amenities include a beachfront clubhouse, a family mini-golf course, expansive practice areas, flexible nine- or 18-hole play, and PGA-certified coaching.
  • Shura Island’s first hotels—SLS, The Red Sea EDITION, and InterContinental—are set to welcome guests in the coming weeks, with 11 resorts planned and initial home handovers targeted by the end of 2025.
  • Access is expanding with Qatar Airways scheduled to start thrice-weekly direct flights to Red Sea International Airport next month.
