• Malik passed away at New Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on August 5, 2025, after battling kidney disease.
• Born in Hiswara village in 1946, he rose from a Meerut College student leader to MLA in 1974 and served in the Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1989.
• Over five decades, he was appointed governor of Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa and Meghalaya, administering the August 2019 removal of Article 370 in J&K.
