Saskatchewan Inmate Escapes Prison, Evades Police After Vehicle Pursuit

Glen Halkett, 29, fled the Saskatchewan Penitentiary on New Year's Eve and faces multiple new charges after a police encounter.

Glen Halkett, serving a nearly three-year sentence for various crimes, escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary on December 31, 2024, during a routine inmate count.
Police spotted Halkett the next day in the Little Red River Cree Nation community, but he fled in a vehicle, striking a police cruiser in the process.
Halkett's escape has led to new charges, including escaping custody, being unlawfully at large, fleeing from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while prohibited.
Authorities describe Halkett as 5'8", 168 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and distinctive tattoos on his neck and under his left eye.
The public is urged not to approach Halkett if seen and to report any sightings or information to police or Crime Stoppers immediately.
