Overview
- Trenes Argentinos will halt all Sarmiento services from Saturday, Oct. 10 through Monday, Oct. 12, with trains expected to resume normal operation on Tuesday, Oct. 13 according to company notices and reporting.
- The suspension affects every branch of the line, including the electric Once–Moreno service and the diesel Moreno–Mercedes and Merlo–Lobos ramals.
- The centerpiece of the work is a full replacement of the Haedo signal control room, which the company says has been in service for more than 40 years, alongside signal renewals, track appliance replacements and yard and platform works.
- Planned interventions also cover renewing signals between Liniers and Villa Luro, replacing the sixth track in Once’s maneuver yard, electrical work at the Castelar substation and cleaning and desmalezado at stations.
- The upgrades are part of broader emergency rail improvement efforts, the schedule may change if weather or operational tests require it, and commuters are advised to reorganize trips and use alternative transport over the long weekend.
