Sardar@150 ‘Unity March’ Opens With Kathua Padyatra Led by Jitendra Singh

District-wide walks begin October 31 before a planned Karamsad-to-Statue of Unity march starting on Constitution Day.

Overview

  • Union Minister Jitendra Singh on October 16 flagged off the inaugural Unity March in Kathua, with students, NCC cadets and locals walking from Dream Land Park to Government Degree College.
  • The campaign’s first phase went live on October 6 via the MY Bharat platform with online contests and youth engagement, and registration is open on the portal.
  • District-level padyatras are scheduled from October 31 to November 25 in every district, covering 8–10 km and featuring yoga and health camps, debates, lectures and pledges on drug eradication and Swadeshi.
  • Organisers say a 152‑km national walk is planned from November 26 to December 6 from Karamsad to the Statue of Unity with multiple stopovers and evening ‘Sardar Gatha’ sessions.
  • At the Kathua event, Singh linked the effort to Ek Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat and asserted that Jawaharlal Nehru not giving Patel a free hand led to the creation of Pakistan‑occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
