Sarah Michelle Gellar has confirmed her involvement in a 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' revival, which is in development with Hulu and nearing a pilot order.
The new series will center on a younger Slayer, with Gellar appearing in a recurring role rather than reprising her lead role from the original show.
Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao will direct and executive produce the pilot, alongside writers and showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.
Gellar emphasized that the revival will only proceed if it can honor the legacy of the original series, describing the process as ongoing and deliberate.
Original series producers Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton are also attached to the project, while creator Joss Whedon is not involved.
