Sara Sharif's Father Attacked in Belmarsh Prison with Makeshift Weapon

Urfan Sharif, jailed for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter, suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being ambushed by two inmates on New Year’s Day.

Urfan Sharif, serving a 40-year sentence for the murder of his daughter Sara Sharif, was attacked in his cell at HMP Belmarsh on January 1 by two inmates using a weapon fashioned from a tuna tin lid.
The assault resulted in cuts to Sharif’s neck and face, requiring medical treatment within the prison; his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The attack occurred just weeks into Sharif's life sentence, handed down in December 2024 for the prolonged abuse and murder of 10-year-old Sara at their Surrey home.
