Sao Paulo Metro Starts 24-Hour Saturday Service on Four Lines

The overnight pilot gauges demand on Metrô-run routes under reduced frequency, with transfers to private lines and CPTM closed.

Overview

  • Trains run continuously from midnight to 4:40 a.m. every Saturday night through February 2026 with 20–30 minute intervals.
  • Overnight access applies only to Lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver, and there is no connection to concessionaire-operated lines or CPTM during these hours.
  • On Line 2-Green, trains operate on a single track between Vila MadalenaClínicas and SacomãVila Prudente in both directions overnight.
  • Line 15-Silver uses free PAESE buses for the first weekend while new trains are tested, with service levels to be reassessed afterward.
  • Ticket offices remain closed overnight; fares can be paid via machines, Google Wallet, WhatsApp, Bilhete Único or Cartão TOP, with contactless entry active on Lines 1 and 3 and planned for Lines 2 and 15 later in December.
