Santilli Resets La Pampa Meeting, Heads to Chubut and Mendoza in Push for Labor Reform

The tour aims to secure provincial commitments ahead of a February Senate debate on the labor bill.

Overview

  • Interior Minister Diego Santilli’s meeting with La Pampa Governor Sergio Ziliotto was postponed to Friday at 14:00 due to heavy rains and flight disruptions, preceding a political meeting called by Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni.
  • Santilli will tour wildfire-affected areas in Chubut on Wednesday with Security Minister Alejandra Monteoliva, and local reporting indicates no meeting with Governor Ignacio Torres is scheduled.
  • On Thursday he will meet in Mendoza with Governor Alfredo Cornejo, who has endorsed the reform and argued the proposal should be tougher on points conceded to unions.
  • The CGT is ramping up lobbying of governors to block or modify the bill and will send only its labor-law advisors to Senate sessions beginning Friday.
  • Mendoza’s delegation plans to demand federal action on deteriorated Route 7 and seek specifics on Route 40 works, in what officials say will be Santilli and Cornejo’s second meeting since he took office.
