Santa Maria Police Arrest Suspect After Shots Fired on Black Road

Overview

• Officers responded around 12:35 a.m. Nov. 9 to the 1000 block of Black Road after reports that a person involved in a fight fired toward a group while fleeing in a silver Honda Civic.
• Investigators recovered multiple shell casings at the scene and determined no one was struck by gunfire.
• Police located the described vehicle shortly after and conducted a high-risk traffic stop, detaining the driver without incident.
• A witness identified the driver as 29-year-old Erik Estrada of Santa Maria, who was arrested and booked on a felony charge of assault with a firearm under Penal Code 245(a)(2).
• Separately, a Nov. 8 shooting on the 1900 block of Noroeste Ave. injured a 21-year-old with non-life-threatening wounds, and police report no additional known victims or known threat to the public as both cases remain under investigation.
