Santa Fe Launches One-Year Countdown to 2026 South American Games

Officials underscored a $90 million, provincially funded venue build to deliver a lasting sports legacy.

  • A public festival at Rosario’s Parque Nacional a la Bandera opened the countdown and revealed Capi, a capybara, as the Games mascot.
  • Organizers reaffirmed September 12–26, 2026 for competitions across Rosario, Santa Fe and Rafaela with more than 4,000 athletes from 15 nations in 57 disciplines.
  • Governor Maximiliano Pullaro said the province advanced the required sports infrastructure without support from the national government.
  • The plan allocates about $90 million for arenas, a microstadium, a provincial aquatic center, a covered velodrome, multipurpose venues and athlete villages providing over 3,500 beds.
  • Athlete ambassadors introduced at the launch included Cecilia Carranza, Guillermo Coria, Rubén Rézola, Ayelén Stepnik and Federico Grabich.
