Santa Fe Constitutional Convention Formalizes Rules and Launches Proposal Portal

A ten-day entry desk for constitutional reform proposals opened today under the Convention’s new procedural framework.

Overview

  • Delegates approved the Convention’s operating regulations, work plan and budget and extended its mandate by 20 days to September 12.
  • Felipe Michlig was elected president of the Convention with three secretaries and four subsecretaries sworn in to manage its legislative work.
  • Eight thematic commissions were constituted to examine and draft amendments across areas such as rights, executive and judicial powers, municipal governance and citizen participation.
  • The Convention set voting thresholds requiring a simple majority of those present, established a 36-member quorum for sessions and granted the president a casting vote to resolve ties.
  • The newly opened Mesa de Entradas will accept reform proposals from blocs, individual conventionals and the public over the next ten days for commission review.
