Overview

• Responding to a 911 call, Officer Robert Allsup forced entry into the locked Eisenhower Drive home and found a man on top of his roommate with a knife.
• After verbal commands were ignored, Allsup fired four times as the knife came down, striking the suspect with all four shots.
• The suspect later died at a hospital, and the victim—stabbed in the hands, chest, lung and abdomen—was treated and released.
• Investigators say two knives were used in the attack, with the first breaking before the assailant retrieved a second.
• Allsup, a 12-year department veteran, is on paid leave as SCPD and the county district attorney review the shooting, with body-camera photos released and a prior Aug. 12 disturbance between the same roommates noted.
