Santa Clara Councilmember Indicted for Allegedly Leaking Documents to 49ers and Lying About It

Santa Clara City Council member Anthony Becker was indicted for perjury and failing to perform his official duties.
Becker allegedly leaked a secret grand jury report critical of his relationship with the 49ers to the team's lobbyist and a news website.
Becker received campaign money from the 49ers but lost his bid to unseat the mayor.
Pro-49ers members won control of the City Council in 2020 with $3 million in donations from the 49ers CEO.
Conviction of felony perjury carries up to four years in prison; Becker will be arraigned Monday.
