Overview

  • Sanofi and Regeneron announced the expansion on Thursday, committing $1 billion upfront and up to $7 billion more in milestone payments tied to development, regulatory approval, and sales.
  • Under the agreement Regeneron will lead research and early development while Sanofi will handle global commercialization and the partners will split development costs and future profits roughly 50:50.
  • One candidate, REGN20423, is already in early human testing for atopic dermatitis, and the other three are preclinical with two expected to enter human trials around 2027.
  • Regeneron gained an option to join Sanofi’s experimental COPD candidate lunsekimig after completion of its late-stage trials, a separate clinical program from the four antibodies.
  • The companies said they resolved a prior partnership legal dispute and investors reacted positively in trading as analysts framed the move as a proactive step to replace future Dupixent revenue.
