SanDisk and SUNEAST Launch CFexpress 4.0 Type B Cards for Pro Imaging

The new cards show vendors racing to larger capacities with guaranteed write speeds for 8K to 12K video.

Overview

  • At NAB 2026, SanDisk introduced a new Extreme PRO CFexpress 4.0 Type B line while SUNEAST unveiled its first CFexpress 4.0 Type B cards for professional work.
  • SanDisk’s range spans 128GB to 4TB with up to 3,700 MB/s read and 3,500 MB/s write, with VPG‑400 or VPG‑800 on smaller models and VPG‑1600 from 1TB up to support 12K capture.
  • SanDisk also expanded Extreme PRO SDXC UHS‑II cards to 2TB in V90 and V60 tiers, with V90 now shipping and the CFexpress 4.0 cards plus V60 SD slated to arrive in the third quarter, according to BenchLife.
  • SUNEAST’s ULTIMATE PRO SILVER cards use TLC NAND in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB sizes and carry a five‑year warranty rated at 600 TBW per terabyte.
  • SUNEAST lists up to 3,700 MB/s read, up to 3,200 MB/s write, and sustained writes of 800 MB/s or 1,550 MB/s by capacity, which helps prevent dropped frames during long 8K RAW recording.
