Sanders Appoints Former Prosecutor to Give Arkansas Supreme Court Conservative Majority

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will nominate J. Cody Hiland as the next justice for the state Supreme Court.
With Hiland's nomination, all three branches of government in Arkansas will have a conservative majority, potentially supporting Sanders's agenda for the state.
Hiland, a former state prosecutor and Arkansas Republican Party Chairman, is nominated to fill a vacant seat on the court.
If confirmed, Hiland's appointment would mean all three branches of the state government in Arkansas would be led by conservatives.
Hiland will hold the seat until 2025, when Wynne's successor is formally elected.
