Overview
- On February 21, 2024, two armed men posing as police forced their way into care home CEO Mark Aitchison’s Sandbanks residence, bound his wife and daughter and stole over £200,000 in watches, jewellery and cash.
- Police linked Ashley Fulton and Aaron Evans to the raid through DNA on discarded vapes, CCTV of their getaway vehicle and phone records of searches for stolen watch models.
- At Bournemouth Crown Court, Fulton received a life sentence with a minimum term of nine years and 192 days while Evans was jailed for 12 years on charges of robbery and firearm offences.
- Restitution orders require Evans to repay £26.66 and Fulton £4,156—amounts representing only a tiny fraction of the total value taken.
- Current law limits asset seizures to funds defendants hold, so victim compensation is capped by the robbers’ available resources.
