Sana Kliniken AG Acquires Muldentalkliniken for One Euro

The financially troubled hospitals in Wurzen and Grimma will be integrated into a regional medical network under new ownership.

The Kreistag approved the sale of Muldentalkliniken to Sana Kliniken AG with a significant majority vote.
Sana plans to form a medical network in the Leipzig region, connecting the Grimma and Wurzen facilities with other hospitals in Borna and Zwenkau.
The sale was deemed necessary as the local government could no longer financially sustain the hospitals without significant subsidies.
Concerns remain about the lack of guarantees for job security and facility operations, as well as the required exit from the Communal Employer's Association.
The transition is set to be discussed with the hospital staff in early November, with a target to complete changes by January 2025.
