• Organizers confirmed seven additions to the Official Competition by Edward Berger, Claire Denis, Dolores Fonzi, Joachim Lafosse, Olmo Omerzu, Xiaoyu Qin and James Vanderbilt.
• Out-of-competition Special Screenings will feature Juliette Binoche’s directorial debut, In-I Motion, and Junji Sakamoto’s film about Everest pioneer Junko Tabei.
• Edward Berger returns to San Sebastián with Ballad of a Small Player, a U.K. production led by Colin Farrell.
• James Vanderbilt’s Nuremberg enters competition with Rami Malek portraying psychiatrist Douglas Kelley and Russell Crowe as Hermann Göring.
• The new titles join previously announced Spanish contenders — Historias del buen valle, Los domingos, Los tigres and Maspalomas — for the September 19–27 edition in San Sebastián.
