Overview

  • The exclusive lanes will require one adult driver and at least three student passengers per vehicle at school drop-off and pick-up points.
  • Capacitation is led by the Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano y Movilidad with support from the Dirección de Policía Vial to streamline traffic and safeguard pedestrian crossings.
  • Participation is voluntary and has expanded from 14 to 21 schools for the 2025–2026 cycle, according to municipal officials.
  • A municipal-operated school-transport pilot will add two private schools and one public school in September.
  • City data from the prior cycle reports traffic reductions of up to 25% around participating campuses under the combined carpool and transport measures.
