  • On August 5 at 2:10 p.m. in Colonia Industrias del Vidrio, 58-year-old Patricia Rodríguez began choking on a totopo while driving at the Las Flores–Mirtos intersection.
  • Patrol unit 1542 driven by Officer Rubén Rocha arrived after Rodríguez’s signals for help went unanswered by other motorists.
  • Rocha immediately applied the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging the totopo and restoring her breathing within seconds.
  • Paramedics attended the scene at Rocha’s request, confirmed Rodríguez’s stable condition and cleared her to continue her day healthy and uninjured.
  • Footage from a nearby video camera has been released as an example of how basic life-support training equips municipal police to handle medical emergencies.
