San Ángel Unveils 168th Feria de las Flores With Community-Voted ‘Malinali’ Icon and Floral Façade Contest

Supported by an 18 million peso budget under a special security plan, the festival will welcome up to 80,000 visitors with a community-driven identity at its core.

Overview

  • The nine-day fair opens July 12 at Parque de la Bombilla and extends programs to Casa del Risco, Plaza San Jacinto and Museo del Carmen among other San Ángel venues.
  • For the first time, residents chose ‘Malinali,’ a figure symbolizing fertility and transformation, as the official image through a community consultation.
  • Sixty-five local producers will showcase flowers alongside interactive workshops and art exhibitions at sites including the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo.
  • La Sonora Santanera, Los Askis, La Sonora Dinamita, Kenny y los Eléctricos and other major acts will perform free concerts across multiple stages.
  • Restaurants, shops and public buildings along the San Ángel corridor will compete in a public-voted floral façade contest featuring arches and balcony displays.
