San Marcos Man Gets Life Without Parole for Yearslong Child Sex Abuse

Prosecutors say intimidation tactics, including destruction of evidence, prolonged the case for years.

Overview

  • Isaac Aguirre, 30, was sentenced on Nov. 25 to life without the possibility of parole by State District Judge Sherri Tibbe in Hays County.
  • A jury in September convicted him on seven felonies, including continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, sexual assault of a child, witness tampering, two counts of online solicitation of a minor, and two counts of injury to a child.
  • According to the district attorney’s office, he abused the girl from about ages 7–8 to 14, beat her with a hanger and belt, punched her in the face, and possessed child sexual abuse material that he destroyed.
  • During sentencing, prosecutors presented evidence that he devised a plan to murder a judge and others tied to the case, committed an aggravated assault, abused partners, animals and another child, and conducted disturbing phone searches.
  • Prosecutors Cassidy Story and Katie Arnold said intimidation delayed justice by four years, and all terms run concurrently with the life-without-parole sentence.
