• Deputies found Manuel Vargas, 31, asleep in a car just after 3 a.m. Oct. 10 in the 1500 block of Linda Vista Drive in San Marcos.
• Visible narcotic contraband prompted an arrest for paraphernalia possession, leading to a vehicle search.
• A small case in the passenger area held two handguns, including a loaded, unserialized Glock‑style 9mm with a high‑capacity magazine and an unloaded .22 LR Pietro Beretta.
• Investigators determined Vargas is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, and seized the guns, ammunition and narcotics.
