• Rohith Sunil, 21, was arraigned Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder for the July 17 shooting of 41-year-old Casey Way as she walked her dogs in San Leandro.
• Police say Sunil pulled alongside Way and her boyfriend near East 14th and Williams streets shortly before midnight, drew a handgun, and shot her once in the torso.
• He was arrested hours later by Dublin officers on unrelated firearm possession charges after detectives matched his vehicle and description to the homicide.
• In addition to murder, Sunil faces counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a loaded weapon in public with enhancements for personal use of a gun causing death.
• Andre Williams remains jailed on first-degree murder charges in the June fatal shooting of another dog walker and officials say there is no evidence of a broader threat to the community.
